DENODO (DEN) - SpainWebsite: http://www.denodo.com/ Denodo has its roots in Angel Vina’s research group at the Technical University of Madrid. Denodo was established in 1999, focusing initially on structuring in real time information extracted from the web and using software as a service under different business models. In parallel, product development was extending the information integration platform to deal with all kind of disparate sources that currently appear in the internal enterprise (corporate databases, spreadsheets, enterprise applications, file systems, and any kind of unstructured silos) and also outside the corporate firewall (such as repositories from partners, suppliers, customers, and all the web-accessible information about competitors, market, regulators, media and other external agents on Internet). In 2004, after successfully piloting version 2.0 in different customers and business scenarios, the company gave entrance to investors to mature the technology in a more robust, enterprise hardened product, and initiate its internationalization expansion. Denodo has offices in Palo Alto, CA., Madrid (Spain) and Coruña (Spain). Denodo totals 65 people among the three offices. Role in projectDenodo will be in charge of one of the Multimedia application in the area of Knowledge Management of Multimedia Information. Denodo’s capabilities for integrating data from multiple and heterogeneous repositories will be used to retrieve metainformation from the different multimedia objects stored in the Remote Sites, homogeneize their structure and combine them in order for the user to perceive a unified taxonomy. Denodo has already shown its expertise in this kind of integration, and its relationship to multimedia management will be a new challenge which will allow the company to improve its product offering and open new business lines. The specifics of Denodo’s role will be mainly shown in WP9.
